NEWPORT, Ore. – Oregon fishing industry leaders are welcoming the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s newly established Office of Seafood, saying the initiative could provide additional support for commercial fishermen and seafood businesses along the state’s coast. The office is intended to strengthen federal support for the nation’s seafood industry through programs, grants, and loans focused on infrastructure, marketing, trade, workforce development and disaster assistance.

SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Governor Tina Kotek on Tuesday declared a state of emergency because of an imminent wildfire threat. The emergency declaration will remain in effect until wildfire danger has significantly diminished, the fire season ends, or Dec. 31, 2026. The Governor says rising temperatures, dry vegetation and shifting winds have created conditions that require immediate action and additional preparedness measures.
