The first hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is memory loss. While spatial memory deficits are commonly reported (Lithfous et al. 2013; Parizkova et al. 2020), studies also highlight associative memory dysfunctions at the early stages of this degenerative disease (Sperling 2007). Late onset AD has a genetic component, with the APOE polymorphism currently corresponding to the most important genetic risk factor.
