Smaller coronary artery size in adults born preterm
Abstract Preterm birth is associated with increased morbidity and mortality, including risk for ischemic heart disease and heart failure in adulthood. While smaller coronary size has been reported in preterm children, this has not been reported for adults. We hypothesized that coronary artery size would be reduced in adults born preterm. Cardiac MRI was performed at 1.5 T. Cardiac structure and function were determined using short axis balanced steady state free precession (bSSFP) cine.
Long-term outcomes in adults born preterm with symptomatic patent ductus arteriosus
Abstract To compare outcomes in young adults born prematurely with and without symptomatic patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) during infancy. Young adults born preterm (≤32 weeks gestation; n = 107) were recruited from the Parkland Health Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registry and compared based on presence of symptomatic PDA during their NICU stay (n = 23 with PDA), defined as clinical evidence of large left-to-right shunt or congestive heart failure.
Robotic‐assisted enucleation for renal masses: A comparison of on‐clamp and off‐clamp approach
1 INTRODUCTION The American Cancer Society predicts 81 800 new cases of kidney cancer in 2023, with nearly 15 000 deaths expected.1 The incidence of kidney cancer has been steadily increasing over the past two decades at a rate of ~2% per year.2 Many of these renal masses undergo surgical extirpation as the accepted curative therapy.3 Nephron-sparing surgery through partial nephrectomy (PN) has been shown to have equivalent oncologic efficacy as radical nephrectomy in clinical T1a and T1b...
