Improving taxonomic resolution, biomass and abundance assessments of aquatic invertebrates by combining imaging and DNA megabarcoding
Benthic macroinvertebrate samples were taken from an outdoor mesocosm experiment, following the ExStream design of Piggott et al. (2015). The experiment was conducted from 6 March to 11 April 2022 at the Boye river in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany (lat, lon: 51.5533 N, 6.9485 E). Field permit for conducting the ExStream experiment was obtained from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, Department of the Environment and Greenery, City of Bottrop, Germany.

Light wavelength and pulsing frequency affect avoidance responses of Canada geese
We deposited an initial version of this manuscript in the EcoEvoRxiv preprint server (Lunn et al., 2023). As a result this manuscript, which has been peer reviewed, shares a large proportion of text with its preprint predecessor. We conducted our experiment in semi-natural conditions (i.e., an enclosed experimental arena outdoors) at Purdue University’s Ross Biological Reserve (40°24′35.16′′N, 87°4′9.71′′W).
