Gladys Books and Wine in Bed-Stuy is working to recover after suffering multiple incidents of water damage in recent weeks. While owner Tiffany Dockery says flooding has been an ongoing issue at 306 Malcolm X Boulevard, she had mostly figured out how to deal with it. What happened on May 20 was a different story, though, with nearly a foot of water collecting in the basement, which is used as the bar area. "Each time, you're like 'can we withstand another one?'" she said.

A Bed-Stuy resident is speaking out after he says he was struck by an NYPD vehicle. Video obtained by News 12 shows Andi Khoo-Miller riding in the protected bike lane on Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn last Wednesday, when he and an NYPD police car turning right onto Hoyt Street collided. "I was like 'You (bleeping) hit me,'" Khoo-Miller said. "(The officer) did not care." In the surveillance video, there is no sign that the police car had its signal on.

Gowanus Officials Push To Ban Cars On Carroll Street Bridge

Multiple local officials are pushing for New York City to ban cars on the Carroll Street Bridge, which is set to reopen soon following repairs that started in 2021. "It's [been] a huge inconvenience for a ton of us, because it is our direct route to Prospect Park," said Drew DeGeer, who lives next to the bridge. The bridge originally opened in 1889 and is an official city landmark.
