by Chad Bird In the darkest and most harrowing times of my life, when I felt lost in a midnight swamp, stumbling and sinking, not knowing where to go or what to do, the Psalms were there. Through them, the Spirit took me by the hand to lead me from the sinking sand of despair to the solid rock of hope. As I prayed the Psalms I knew that, in the gloom, there was unseen light. They gave me the words to verbalize my pain and confusion, to cry to my Father who filled me with hope in his Son.

Of course, as we engage in this method, we should mention a few caveats, since every tool has its positive and negative sides. One caution in prioritizing cultural apologetics is that the culture part can dwarf the apologetic part.

I have a house and a good wife, a sweet Boxer dog and an incorrigible cat. I have a job that pays the bills. I can smell honeysuckle and see the vivid color of pink lilies growing on the edge of my yard. I have friends and family who care about me.
