1 INTRODUCTION Orthodontically induced root resorption (OIRR) is a reaction modulated by a constricted periodontal ligament that activates chemical signals to gather clast cells from vascular areas, causing cell mitosis and differentiation on root surfaces. Teeth can become more susceptible to root resorption as a result of the variation of genes that regulate odontoclast differentiation, stomatognathic system properties or various parameters related to treatment mechanics.
