In photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting, heterojunction electrodes consisting of two or more dissimilar semiconductors offer more advantages over those made from single semiconductors. Pairing tungsten trioxide (WO ) with bismuth vanadate (BiVO ) is a promising strategy that helps to achieve better charge separation and improved overall performance in PEC water splitting.

Sonophoresis can increase skin permeability to various drugs in transdermal drug delivery. Cavitation is recognized as the predominant mechanism of sonophoresis. Recently, a new logical approach to enhance the efficiency of transdermal drug delivery was tried. It is to utilize the engineered microbubble and its resonant frequency for increase of cavitation activity.
