1 Introduction Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects around 45.9 million people globally and is characterized by a predisposition to suffer spontaneous seizures (Fisher et al., 2014). Its pathophysiology consists of the appearance of abnormal foci of cerebral electrical activity caused by the imbalance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in the central nervous system, in such a way as to make it prone to functioning in an excessive oscillatory pattern.
