Estimation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels using machine learning

Highlights • ML (machine learning) algorithms were able to derive LDL-C values which showed higher correlation and better accuracy compared with the Friedewald and Martin equations. • ML estimations were especially accurate even with high TG levels, an area where performance of conventional methods was inadequate. • We believe that these novel algorithms could be easily incorporated into electronic health records, and could serve as a substitute for the Friedewald or Martin equations.
