Northern Ohio PGA Takes 6-2 Lead after Day 1 Matches A team of youngsters representing the Northern Ohio Professional Golfers Association built a 6-2 lead over their counterparts from the Southern Ohio PGA in the first round of the third Junior Ohio Cup on Saturday at demanding Brookside Country Club in Canton.

A field of 134 will play in the 42nd annual Kenny Novak Junior Tour Championship next week at Barrington Golf Club when the Northern Ohio Section of the Professional Golfers Association conducts its final junior event of the summer. The event honors the memory of Kenny Novak, a terrific golfer and all-around athlete, who died a heroic death when he drowned while saving the life of one of his friends. For years the tournament was held at Club Walden, where Novak’s family were members.

16 Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tour members competed all season long for a spot to represent the Northern Ohio PGA at the inaugural Junior Ohio Cup presented by Cobra Puma Golf! These players will head to Westfield Country Club’s South Course in Westfield Center on October 28-29 to compete against juniors from the Southern Ohio PGA in this Ryder Cup-style event.
