A new investigation has revealed how Wandsworth Council has threatened entire families with eviction from council properties over youth offending. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism has released its new investigation, which looks at eviction notices served by the council to a number of families living in council properties - in each case after a young member of the family commits an offence. Sirad* still blames herself for calling the police on her son. He was quite a handful as a young boy, and when he was 14 and broke a window she felt unable to cope. “I couldn’t control his behaviour, and I was hoping a police intervention would make him a little scared and he would fix up.” But she was wrong.
