Characterizing chapeau de gendarme in pediatric epilepsy through systematic video-EEG evaluation

Chapeau de gendarme (CdG) occurred in 10.6% of pediatric patients from infancy to adolescence, with a tendency to higher frequency in older children. CdG was typically an early seizure sign, emerging within the first seconds of seizure onset. CdG frequently co-occurred with hyperkinetic behavior and in seizures progressing to bilateral tonic–clonic seizures.
