The move was announced on the Wheaton Athletics website over the summer by Wheaton athletics director Mike Schauer. Brighty is succeeding Jonny Tink, who served as the interim men’s golf head coach during spring 2026. Tink took over after longtime head coach Paul Craig stepped down in October 2025.

The Thunder emerged victorious in a thriller with a final score of 24-23 that came down to the final seconds. Prior to Saturday’s matchup, Wheaton had faced Mount Union seven times and lost all seven. Their most recent matchup was on Sept.

By Hannah Bartlebaugh, Staff Writer On April 25, the Wheaton College women’s tennis team upset the top-seeded North Central Cardinals to win its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) championship since 2019. With this win, it earned an automatic invitation to the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships from May 7-22. Wheaton opened the tournament against Carthage on Friday.
