Sheriff’s Office: Evacuation notice issued after train derailment in Morgan County

MORGAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office is responding after a train derailed in the Lancing area, leading to an evacuation notice near Shady Grove Road. Morgan County Sheriff Rick Hamby said at this time, four to five cars have come off the tracks. The derailment took place near Shady Grove Road around 4 p.m. on Thursday. Just before 5 p.m., Hamby told 6 News that an evacuation notice for a half-mile radius from the derailment had been put in place.

NASCAR Cup Series driver Chad Finchum, driver of the No. 66 Ford Dark Horse Mustang, is competing in his third Bristol start in the Cup Series.
