The data collection process will be carried out in four main steps: establishing the care delivery value chain for individual patients’ conditions by shadowing patients; calculating capacity cost rates for personnel and equipment; measuring spending on consumables; and allocating indirect costs in a causal manner. The process will be conducted using the TDABC approach.13–15 All cost data will be collected in Tanzanian shillings and then converted to US dollars.
