The lights were put in place between Drury Lane and Palmyra Road because of concerns that the wall was at risk of collapsing onto the footpath and road. This led to long tailbacks along the road, particularly at school-run time. The owners of the affected properties were originally given four weeks to carry out works to make the wall safe, and when they didn't, the deadline was extended for another fortnight.

Jersey Bulls Women only played their first competitive fixture last year, going on to win every game in South East Counties Women's Football League Surrey Division One to secure the league title and promotion. Guernsey FC Women finished 7th in the Southern Region Women's Football League Division One South, with three wins in their last four to end the campaign. Both sides will now debut in the Women's FA Cup in the 2026-27 season, with the preliminary round draw made on 23 August.

The current rules state that dogs need to be on leads on all beaches between 1030am and 6pm from 1 May until 30 September. However, the petition, signed by nearly 1900 people, is asking for it to be amended to better reflect when beaches are most popular, when there are more tourists, and when children are at school. It asks for the restrictions to start later, on 30 May, and to end earlier, on 7 September.
