× DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation’s first-ever joint presentation at Annecy gave us some exciting updates on ongoing animated works. The packed slate of animated projects includes a series based on the highly acclaimed Absolute Batman comics and a Joker-based series, which is set to be a landmark project for DC Studios (via Variety). The showcase, which signaled a new chapter for DC’s animated storytelling, was led by DC co-CEO Peter Safran and WB Animation president Sam Register.

× The Jackass crew is hanging up their helmets for good. Jackass: Best and Last hits theaters on June 26, 2026, and it is being sold as the fifth and truly final movie in the series. Johnny Knoxville has said this is “the natural place to end,” wrapping up roughly 25 years of bruises, broken bones, and bad ideas (via Rolling Stone).

× On June 25, 1982, two films now regarded as some of the greatest science fiction ever made arrived in theaters on the very same day. One of them was Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, a moody neo-noir starring Harrison Ford as a hunter of rogue replicants. The same afternoon, John Carpenter’s The Thing, a paranoid, body-horror nightmare reuniting the director with Kurt Russell, also dropped in cinemas. Both Scott and Carpenter were the masters of the genre with bold visions for their respective movies.
