"So we launched this in October of 2015, but our big growth as happened in the last year," explains Andrew Glantz. He's the founder and CEO of GiftaMeal.
Hamilton's Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar opens tonight in Lafayette Square
ST. LOUIS — Hamilton's Urban Steakhouse and Bourbon Bar officially opens tonight. It's an intimate upscale steakhouse on Chouteau in the same building as Charleville Brewing Company and comes from Paul and Wendy Hamilton who own Eleven Eleven Mississippi, Vin De Set and PW pizza. On the menu is a delicious shrimp cocktail, cauliflower fritters and a filet that will melt in your mouth. There are all sorts of bourbons to choose from and some awesome cocktails on the menu.

He is more than a triple threat, Mark Ballas is an all purpose performer. "I really loved music when I was little, my parents were dancers, my dad was a guitar player," Ballas says. He's a talented guy who has raised that mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars twice, was nominated for an Emmy for outstanding choreography and is one half of the music duo Alexander Jean with his wife.

Across from a theater built in 1924 is a store with a 2018 approach to shopping. "The whole concept behind the store is kind of what I like to call experimental retail, experimental in that there's a lot of different eclectic type of items in this store," explains Jen Rieger. It's a curated collection of stuff that tends to turn heads. "The faux taxidermy, the T Rex heads and the animal heads we have on the walls seem to catch peoples attention a lot," adds Chris Rubin De La Borbolla.

"So when we're learning about Washington he's got the all star cabinet here," he explains to his student. A purr-fect collection of art
KIRKWOOD, MO - At a desk in Kirkwood, Jay Thompson is putting the final whiskers onto one of his interesting works of art. "I retired and after about a year of boredom, it really was boring, this kind of popped out of me," he explains. It's one of many pieces in a collection he calls Cat Works. "It all started as digital art which is is computer based art." Truth be told it starts with a feline photo shoot at Open Door Animal Sanctuary. "All my cats are shelter cats," he points out.

ST. LOUIS - It is one of our city's finest treasures. A movie palace built to impress. An incredible structure that opened in January of 1929. "Yes, 1929, six million dollars," Laura Scholten says. She knows all the ins and outs of The Fox. An old theater with a brass box office window outside and two smaller ones inside. "If it was bad weather then they would use these two smaller ones here," she points out.

LOUIS - It is a place where people come to see all sorts of animals and in the excitement of those awesome moments visitors often don't realize what else is around them and that's a good day for David Jarvis, the Life Support System Supervisor, which in a nutshell means he's in charge of the water in all of the exhibits and there's a lot of water. "Hippos is about 65,000 gallons of water, here were about 200,000 in the main pool," he explains.
Villa Antonio Winery in Hillsboro has roots in Italy
It is a hidden gem in the Hillsboro zipcode. "The setting is beautiful," says Eileen Edwards. "Both my parents are Italian immigrants and my dad grew up on a farm in Italy. One of their crops was growing grapes and they would always take the grapes and make it into wine. So he always wanted to sort of get back to his roots," explains Thomas Polesel. So his dad, Antonio, bought some land and and planted a few vines in 1990.

ST. LOUIS- He came into the world on May 17th, 2017 and only six days later weighed in at 130 pounds. "They can gain up to six pounds a day," says Nicole Becker, one of the keepers in River's Edge. Her job allows her to spend quite a bit of time with the big bundle of joy. "He's very playful. When he goes out in the mornings he usually likes to run laps back and forth and then he usually tires himself out and takes a nap," she explains.

At a brand new building in O'Fallon, Illionois boutique owners are unlocking their inventory and rolling out the well.. metal carpet for shoppers. "We have boutiques coming from Waterloo, Columbia, St. Charles, Missouri, O'Fallon, Lebanon, Nashville, Iliinois," explains Amanda Oelze. Boutiques at the Plex is a one day event with 49 boutiques from a 40 mile radius under one roof selling all sorts of stuff.

Maplewood man builds guitars out of old bike parts
In a small garage in Maplewood big ideas are always turning in Rob Usher's head. He's constantly digging for things he can recycle and reuse. So when he stumbled onto some old bike parts it sparked an idea. "I think I had handlebars on the table and a few of the pieces cut and it was laying there and it looked like a guitar and I was like no way! So I just welded it all together," Usher explains. After that, however, he hit the brakes and it sat stringless for about four years.

The prompt book is on the table, the cough drops are plentiful and the props are being painted. It's a sign The Muny season is upon us. A St. Louis summer tradition Constantine Maroulis is about to experience for the first time, but no worries he's used to performing on a rather big stage. He was a finalist on season four of American Idol, the year Carrie Underwood won. "She's starting to catch on these days, she's doing alright," he jokes.

Along Elm Street in St. Charles is a a home that is turning heads. Not for the upside down windows, but the building materials. Eight shipping containers that traveled the world before Zack and Brie Smithey bought them and turned them into their home. "We stacked them up and wielded them all together in a day," Zack explains. The outside still needs some work, but step inside this steel structure and you might be surprised.

A hidden gem that's been around for more than a century
At the corner of Sarah and Laclede is a place where the writing on the wall is only part of the story because inside under a little dust is a bit of a treasure. New Market Hardware Company opened in 1914 near Olive and Delmar. "And sometime around 1924 or the late 1920s it moved to it's present location," Steve Schneider says. It's a business that's been in Schneider's hands for about five years. A place where a shop bell still rings and receipts are handwritten.

Hey Heidi: What's the story behind the hearts in Webster Groves?
On a stretch of South Gore in Webster Groves is a rather heartwarming sight. Kindness pinned to poles and tacked to trees. "They're one of a kind, super unique. When we started this project we would tell everyone that every heart is a beautiful heart so even the hearts that are kind of lopsided or lumpy," explains Becky Ortyl. But the purpose of these painted pieces of plywood is way more than a decoration. Becky gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on March 10th in 2011.

It's the show that stars America Ferrera and Ben Feldman and in this episode if you don't blink, you see me. Of course those 10 seconds required three pretty amazing hours. "We have a dressing room for you and in about eight minutes I'll get wardrobe over to you," Katie Wincor explains. There was a wardrobe fitting, hair, make-up, then back to my dressing room to get into costume and get a little info about my character. "You are the mile long receipt customer," Wincor says.

The Bonne Terre Mine is one of them. It's about an hour from downtown St. Louis and it is incredible. It's one of the world's largest man-made caverns. It was a lead mine from 1860 to 1962 and when it closed they left it like it was so you'll see old mining tools. It's also a one billion gallon lake which makes it a unique diving destination. People all over the world suit up and slip into the water here because this a completely different underwater experience.

"My husband and I wanted something we could move all over our yard, something round, something unique," Brocksmith explains. Her brother's ideas ignited and soon Tom Davis and his dad had welded together exactly what she was wanting. "Artist is like way, way up there," Tom Davis says. But one of the few is Tom. To him this is more of a hobby. Make no mistake he really gets into his work, but his burning desire is to help others.
Small chef makes a big impression
Peek through this window and Deesten Lewis appears to be just a busy six year old boy, who has to deal with a sometimes annoying little brother. But put him in a kitchen and all of a sudden he's buttoned up and demanding your attention. "Hi I'm Little Chef DJ today we're making a strawberry granola bar," he says with a big smile. His intro is as smooth a greased cookie sheet. "One cup of peanut butter," he explains. His step by step instructions as cute as his dimples.
A trip to The Cabin is worth the drive
GLEN CARBON, ILL. - It's not exactly in the woods, but step into this old building along 157 and you'll feel like you're in a cabin. It's an idea Justin Pickering reeled in as he started redoing the place. "So every little detail that we started to do was oh my gosh this is like the cabin," he explains. It was memories of an old cabin his grandfather and a friend built by hand. A place that became the inspiration of The Cabin at Judy Creek.
