Reconstructing the life histories of a noble couple from the Joseon period, Korea, based on skeletal evidence and historical records
1 INTRODUCTION While the life of an individual from an archaeological site can be partly reconstructed through skeletal examination, it is challenging to understand the detailed life conditions and experiences through skeletal analysis alone.
Participate in the origin trial for non-cookie storage access through the Storage Access API
Chrome 115 introduced changes to storage, service workers, and communication APIs by partitioning in third-party contexts. In addition to being isolated by the same-origin policy, the affected APIs used in third-party contexts are also isolated by the site of the top-level context.
Related Website Sets - the new name for First-Party Sets in Chrome 117 - Chrome Developers
Many Privacy Sandbox APIs are ramping up to General Availability (GA) in Chrome Stable in preparation for third-party cookie deprecation beginning in 2024. Some of these APIs will help preserve crucial cross-site cookie use cases, like CHIPS, and the API currently known as First-Party Sets (FPS).
The Capilano Review
I hope for a shift in the way people look. —Tanya Lukin Linklater Issue 3.44 (Summer, 2021) invites the reader to reposition themselves within both new and existing works of art and writing, prompting shifts in how we perceive and the worldview that flows from that perception.

Helen Cho Director of Strategy Aloha Green Apothecary Honolulu, HI Aloha Green Apothecary has a new website! In the first major update since we launched the company in 2016, the site was rebuilt from the ground up with new sections, more transparency into our processes and additional resources. Over the past three years, there have been many changes to both Hawaii’s cannabis industry and within our company.

Helen Cho Director of Strategy Aloha Green Apothecary Honolulu, HI There’s been a buzz of excitement at Aloha Green Apothecary lately. This is a time of unprecedented growth and expansion for the company as we prepare for the opening of our second dispensary, expand the production facility, kick off a major hiring push and introduce new products.

How were your 4/20 sales numbers? At the time of writing, we are in the midst of planning for 4/20. This year is interesting, with the day sandwiched between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Hawaii law requires us to close on state and federal holidays, which means we must close on Friday and then hope for the best as we share Sunday with Easter egg hunts and church services.

Thanks to Hawaii’s new reciprocity legislation, Aloha Green Apothecary prepares to welcome qualifying cannabis patients visiting from other U.S. states. Ready to come to Hawaii? Because we are ready for you! Hawaii has just started allowing patients with green cards from other states to access our medical dispensaries. For a state like Hawaii, where tourism is a major pillar of the economy, this is a big deal.

Aloha, fellow cannabis dreamers! It was a very busy month — we almost didn’t make the deadline for the column. The Hawaii Cannabis Expo happens every February, and it’s a priority project for my team. This expo is one the few ways Aloha Green Apothecary can reach potential patients directly, as Hawaii licensees are prohibited from advertising on any platform, meaning there are limited opportunities to connect with the public on our own terms.

Life is more fun with friends, and business is better with good partners. Aloha Green Apothecary is the first cannabis company in Hawaii to work with edibles giant Kiva Confections and the only dispensary outside of California where Kiva Petra Mints are sold. For a new dispensary in one of the most heavily regulated cannabis markets, that’s kind of a big deal (and a dream partnership).

Nick from Aloha Green Apothecary displays some of the clones from the company’s grow operation, which has steadily been growing since its founding less than three years ago. It looks like 2019 is going to the biggest year yet for Aloha Green Apothecary and the state of Hawaii Medical Cannabis Dispensary program! Reciprocity is set to begin before the summer and we have our fingers crossed for a smooth rollout when the Hawaii Department of Health is ready to launch the program.

The Aloha Green Apothecary presents AccesSurf Hawaii with a check during its “Day at the Beach” event in which volunteers help those with disabilities experience the ocean’s healing power through adaptive surfing. Ready for the next 365 days of insanity? Thanks in part to the green wave of pro-cannabis voters who turned out for the midterm elections, 2019 is bringing an unstoppable groundswell of change to our industry.

For the past couple months, we’ve had a mini-crisis at Aloha Green Apothecary. It’s the worst potential problem for vertically integrated cannabis companies: the quality of our dried flower wasn’t meeting our standards and there was no alternative process, such as buying cannabis wholesale, to acquire quality product for the dispensary. We chose not to release a substandard product and risked empty shelves at the dispensary.

Aloha Green Apothecary celebrated its one-year anniversary as Honolulu’s first medical cannabis dispensary on Aug. 9, 2018 with four days of doorbuster deals and giveaways. Those outside of the company don’t know how much we had fight to make our anniversary a successful event; we had no top-tier flower in our inventory. A few months ago, we wrote about how exciting it was to finally have consistent inventory at the dispensary.

Hawaii dispensaries are not allowed to use the terms “vape” or “vaporization” (per state Department of Health regulation); instead we have to call it “safe pulmonary administration of medical cannabis,” or SPAMC. And if you’ve ever been to Hawaii, you already know about this state’s obsession with Spam, the Hormel Foods canned meat. More Spam is consumed per person in Hawaii than in any other state in the United States.

It’s August and our first dispensary turns 1 year old this month! It’s been a busy few weeks for us at Aloha Green Apothecary: We introduced a full line of concentrate products in June (when our lab became fully operational), new Hawaii laws passed in July to allow pre-filled vape cartridges and preparations for our one-year anniversary made it feel like 4/20 all over again.

There is always so much to do. As a startup cannabis company blazing the path forward for a new industry in Hawaii, we are in a position of great potential and of high expectations. There is no playbook to follow, and everyone — including licensees, the Department of Health (regulators) and legislators — is figuring it out as we go. Aloha Green Apothecary is always juggling numerous objectives, many with moving targets.

Each market in this industry is unique, as are the combinations of challenges and advantages cannabis companies deal with in those markets. Aloha Green Apothecary’s specific lessons may not be fully applicable for your company’s situations, but we think there’s something in here for everyone to think about. Here’s some basic context: Hawaii has eight vertically integrated licenses across four islands. Each license can serve only the island for which it received approval.
Zero Point Zero's Parts Unknown producer Helen Cho interviews director Morgan Fallon
Morgan Fallon, who directed the West Virginia episode, sits down with producer Helen Cho to talk about reconnecting with his West Virginia roots, shooting Parts Unknown’s first extended episode, and the pressure to “get it right.” Helen Cho: How did the idea for the West Virginia episode come about? Morgan Fallon: Tony and I were shooting an episode for season 9 in Antarctica, and we had been talking about southern West Virginia and how I didn’t think many people knew about it.

As much as we try to play it down, running a dispensary in Hawaii is as close to paradise as you can imagine. We get to play in the ocean alongside sea turtles (seriously!) and our cannabis plants thrive under the nourishing South Pacific sun. And we fight to cultivate paradise within our company by building a culture that upholds the Aloha Spirit. Life in Hawaii is family-based: everyone is your auntie, uncle or cousin.

We made history in Hawaii! A few months ago, Aloha Green was the first medical cannabis dispensary to open in Honolulu. Patients camped out the night before we opened our doors to be among the first in the state to buy legal “pakalolo.” We had chilled champagne waiting in the office fridge — but things went sideways pretty quickly and we didn’t get a chance to touch that bubbly until three weeks later.

October 22, 2014, 5:20 p.m.: Arrive at Incheon International Airport in Seoul. Meet the crew at hotel and check in. The assistant cameramen introduce themselves and mention that they watched the Vice Munchies video in preparation to work with us. Not totally sure what they are expecting, but it should be interesting seeing as how that evening ended up with a complimentary admission card to Flashdancers. We split up for city coverage.
