I had the title, the team. The track record. But I Didn’t Feel Like a Leader.
I came back from maternity leave to lead a team I had built from scratch. They were talented. I had chosen them all, except for one. And yet, I stood in front of them and felt like I didn’t belong in my own skin. I couldn’t figure out how to take charge in the way, they needed. Everything about me felt unfamiliar. The culture had shifted. My rhythm was off, and my emotions told me, this whole thing wasn’t right. I tried for a while to ignore my instincts. Motherhood had changed me.
You left the system to do meaningful work.
Some days I catch myself wanting to rush. To take the shortcut. This is when the urge to jump to skip the messy parts sets in. Just get to the result! But that’s not really why I’m doing this. I’m doing this to build something that’s mine. To enjoy my mornings. Drink my own coffee. Walk my kid to daycare without stress. To work in a way that feels good and goes deep. I left a job where I was made to feel replaceable. And maybe I was. But it still hurt.
AI Is Making Us Smarter on LinkedIn - But Something Human Is Slipping Away
Helene Christensen · Follow 5 min read · -- Lately, I’ve been spending more time on LinkedIn. Partly because I’m building my own business, partly out of curiosity — about how people talk about work, identity, creativity. And more recently: how we talk in a world where AI is suddenly our writing partner, our strategist, our co-pilot. And what I’ve noticed is this: Everything is getting so clean. So polished. So optimized. So certain. But I can’t always feel the work behind the words. The process.
Your Website Is Talking Too Much - And Saying Nothing
Helene Christensen · Follow 3 min read · -- If your website isn’t converting, the problem isn’t your product. It’s not even just your website design. It’s your messaging. Too many companies drown their visitors in words. Too much detail. Too many claims. Too much about themselves. They mistake information for persuasion. They mistake more for better. Here’s what they get wrong. Your website is not your autobiography. Yet, so many companies treat it like one.
Elevated levels of neutrophils with a pro-inflammatory profile in Turner syndrome across karyotypes - npj Genomic Medicine
Abstract Turner syndrome (TS) presents with multiple karyotypes, including 45,X monosomy and variants such as isochromosomes and mosaicism, and is characterized by several co-morbidities, including metabolic conditions and autoimmunity. Here, we investigated the genomic landscapes across a range of karyotypes. We show that TS have a common autosomal methylome and transcriptome, despite distinct karyotypic variations.
Study design and baseline profile for adults with type 2 diabetes in the once-weekly subcutaneous SEmaglutide randomized PRAgmatic (SEPRA) trial
PRECIS-2 assessment The trial design was retrospectively assessed using the PRECIS-2 tool27 by the study steering group in December 2018. The allocated scores were plotted in a PRECIS-2 wheel (which is similar to a radar or spider chart) showing that the study was scored 4–5 in all nine domains (1=very explanatory and 5=very pragmatic) (online supplemental figure 1; online supplemental table 4).
