What's the best pitch you ever got?
One of the most memorable pitches I received was from a startup that had developed a unique smartphone accessory. What made it stand out was the personalized approach they took in their pitch. They had clearly done their research on my previous articles and tailored their pitch to align with my interests and writing style. The email began with a catchy subject line that immediately grabbed my attention. The pitch itself was concise, highlighting the key features and benefits of their product while addressing some of the pain points consumers often face. They also included a demo video that showcased the accessory in action, which further piqued my interest. Overall, what impressed me the most was their understanding of my audience and their ability to effectively communicate how their product would resonate with my readers. It demonstrated a genuine effort to establish a connection and provided valuable information right from the initial pitch.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
While I appreciate the effort that goes into every pitch, I once received a pitch that lacked relevance to my beat and showed a clear lack of understanding of the topics I cover. The email was poorly written, filled with generic buzzwords, and had no clear connection to the technology industry. It was evident that the sender did not take the time to research my areas of interest or tailor the pitch accordingly. In such cases, it becomes challenging to consider the pitch seriously or find any value in pursuing the story further.
