Genome mining of the tumor microbiome reveals biosynthetic diversity and potential pathology-modulating metabolites
Abstract Human tumor-associated microbes – the tumor microbiome – have demonstrated an increasingly important role in human health due to their relevance to cancer progression and treatment response. While the metabolism at the host-microbiota interface, such as in the human gut, has been extensively investigated in recent years, the specialized metabolites from the tumor microbiome remain uncharted territory.
Counterfactual explanation-based targeted regulation of key chemical indicators for improving tobacco leaf sensory quality
Abstract Introduction: To address the need for the value-added utilization of tobacco leaves with low sensory quality, this study proposed a targeted chemical composition regulation method based on counterfactual explanations and preliminarily evaluated the resulting chemical adjustment strategies using samples processed by a rotary-drum tobacco high-temperature (THT) drying process.
Biosynthetic enzyme analysis identifies a protective role for TLR4-acting gut microbial sulfonolipids in inflammatory bowel disease - Nature Communications
Abstract The trillions of microorganisms inhabiting the human gut are intricately linked to human health. While specific microbes have been associated with diseases, microbial abundance alone cannot reveal the molecular mechanisms involved. One such important mechanism is the biosynthesis of functional metabolites. Here, we develop a biosynthetic enzyme-guided disease correlation approach to uncover microbial functional metabolites linked to disease.

Trinity of inflammation, innate immune cells and cross-talk of signalling pathways in tumour microenvironment
1 Introduction Inflammation is an evolutionary process that allows the human body to cope with pathogenic invasion and traumatic injuries. It is involved in the activation and recruitment of numerous innate and adaptive immune cells that bolter the host’s defence against invading pathogens and set the stage for tissue recovery, regeneration, and remodelling, once the instigating factors are removed from the body (Attiq et al., 2018).
