Spatiotemporal dynamics of Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis habitat in the Northwest Indian Ocean under anomalous climate conditions
Abstract Introduction: Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis is an economically important cephalopod species whose habitat distribution is highly sensitive to climate variability. To investigate the influence of the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on the habitat dynamics of S. oualaniensis in the northwestern Indian Ocean, this study sets out to examine the long-term environmental regulation processes.
Integrative assessment of fish diversity in abalone raft culture areas of the Pingtan Sea, China, based on traditional fishing and eDNA metabarcoding
Abstract As offshore aquaculture expands globally, understanding how farming facilities integrate into and influence marine ecosystems is critical. This study evaluated the ecosystem functions of abalone raft culture in the Pingtan sea area, China, by employing an integrative framework that combined traditional sampling (gillnets and pots) with environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding.
Urolithin A From Gut Metabolite to Therapeutic Agent: Bioavailability, Mechanisms, and Translational Insights
1 Introduction Urolithin A (UroA) is a key intestinal metabolite derived from ellagitannins or ellagic acid and has been shown to confer significant health benefits in human body. Ellagic acid, the precursor of UroA, is a natural polyphenol that occurs predominantly in the form of ellagitannins in various fruits, such as pomegranates, berries, and nuts (Ríos et al. 2018). Representative ellagitannins include the punicalagin and punicalin, which are abundant in pomegranates (Mihaylova et al. 2025).

A lanmodulin-based fluorescent assay for the rapid and sensitive detection of rare earth elements
A lanmodulin-based fluorescent assay for the rapid and sensitive detection of rare earth elements† Sensitive and rapid detection methods for rare earth elements (REEs), including lanthanides (Lns), will facilitate the mining and recovery of these elements. Here, we innovated a rapid, highly selective and sensitive fluorescence detection method for Lns, based on Hans-Lanmodulin, a newly discovered protein with high selectivity and binding affinity for rare earth elements.

Decoding the complete organelle genomic architecture of Stewartia gemmata: an early-diverging species in Theaceae - BMC Genomics
Fresh S. gemmata leaves were harvested from Xinyang City, Henan Province (114.08°E, 32.13°N). Immediately after collection, they were rapidly frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored in a -80℃ environment, followed by DNA extraction. The libraries were constructed using the Nextera DNA Flex Library Prep Kit (Illumina, San Diego, CA, USA) and sequenced on the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform.

Oxidative stress, neurotoxicity, and intestinal microbial regulation after a chronic zinc exposure: an experimental study on adult zebrafish (Danio rerio)
Zinc is one of the heavy metals present in textile wastewater with high concentrations. However, the chronic toxic effects of zinc on aquatic vertebrates are still ambiguous. Zinc accumulation in zebrafish after chronic zinc exposure and toxic effects on the intestines, muscles, and gills were investigated in this study. The results showed that a significant accumulation of zinc in the intestine, muscle, and gill was observed after 25 d of zinc exposure.

Frontiers | Heritability estimates for gonadal development traits and their genetic correlations with growth and heat tolerance traits in the Fujian Oyster Crassostrea angulata
Introduction Improving the progress of breeding is the main purpose of breeders, and shorting the reproductive cycle is one of the ways to improve the breeding progress. Oysters are the top productive molluscs cultured worldwide, and usually reproduce only one generation per year for most species (see review by Gjedrem and Rye, 2018).
