Introduction Butyricimonas virosa is an anaerobic, non-pigmented, non-spore-forming, non-motile, Gram-negative bacillus [1]. It was first discovered in rat faeces in 2009 and was categorized as a member of the Porphyromonadaceae family based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis [1].
