1 Introduction It is common for parents to experience stress, referred to as parental stress (Abidin 1992), because parenting a child is challenging (Akister and Johnson 2004; Reijneveld et al. 2008). Parental stress broadly emerges from sources (Le et al. 2017): the roles served as parents (e.g., reduced personal time) and the daily tasks of rearing children (e.g., handling caretaking hassles; Abidin 1995; Crnic and Low 2002; Deater-Deckard 2004).

Individuals on the autism spectrum (hereafter, with autism) are characterized as having difficulties in social communication and interaction, and the presence of restricted and repetitive behaviors and interests (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Since the 1990s, the prevalence of autism has increased by 269%, making autism an international concern (Van Naarden Braun et al., 2015).
