1 Introduction Participatory approaches that engage learners in authentic data, real-world problems, and scientific practices have received increasing attention in science education (Guarrella et al. 2025; Jadallah and Ballard 2025). However, several participatory-science projects are developed outside formal schooling and are not readily transferable to classroom contexts (Zoellick et al. 2012).

1 Introduction Participatory science is a rapidly growing field that engages citizens and students in addressing ecological crises, such as biodiversity loss, while offering economic and educational benefits (Bonney et al. 2009; Kobori et al. 2016). It has gained prominence in science education by facilitating scientific data collection and generating educational outcomes (Shirk et al. 2012).
