INTRODUCTION Adaptive divergence, driven by the emergence and maintenance of genetic innovations, enables species to thrive in diverse environments, shaping biodiversity and enhancing ecosystem resilience (Räsänen and Hendry, 2008; Wagner, 2011; Tusso et al., 2021). Key genetic mechanisms underpinning this process include gene duplication, functional divergence of homologous genes, and adaptive innovation (Bergthorsson et al., 2007).
