Abstract Climate extremes increasingly threaten global food production, yet global multi-hazard agricultural risk assessments that jointly consider multiple hazards, crop exposure and socioeconomic vulnerability are still missing. This gap limits our ability to identify where climate shocks to croplands are most likely to translate into high agricultural risk.

Abstract The net ecosystem exchange (NEE), determining terrestrial carbon sequestration capacity, is strongly controlled by climate change and has exhibited substantial year-to-year fluctuations. How the increased frequency and intensity of warm extremes affect NEE variations remains unclear.

Abstract The intensification of compound hot-dry events due to climate change is a pressing concern, underscoring the need for precise analysis. However, the impact of different dry indicators on projections of these events has not been quantitatively evaluated, nor has its importance been compared with other sources of uncertainty. Here we examine the sensitivity of projected changes in compound hot-dry events to different dry indicators.
