L.A. Unified approves effort to make more data available to public.
Vivian Ekchian will get $350,000/yr while serving as interim LAUSD supt., the same salary that departing Supt. Michelle King is receiving until her retirement takes effect by end of June. Ekchian's previous salary was $255,000 as assoc, supt. for support services.
The L.A. school board announced no progress on the long-term search for a "permanent" superintendent. The announced plan so far is to meet every Tuesday and deliberate on that topic.
the L.A. school board has formally appointed Vivian Ekchian as interim supt. and authorized negotiations to reach a contract with her for that purpose.
The LA school board went into closed session at 12:51 pm, so they're taking awhile. But it doesn't seem likely they'll emerge with a new supt. They could be spending this long just coordinating their 7 calendars to add extra meetings to the schedule.
