China’s Chang’e-6 mission’s moon samples uncover naturally formed nanotubes once thought possible only in labs. China’s historic 2024 Chang’e-6 mission that became the first to land on the Moon’s far side has discovered something scientists never thought could happen. They found tiny carbon nanotubes on the dark side of the Moon, providing the first evidence of a material once believed to have never formed naturally.

A moderate quake near Joshua Tree National Park triggered an intense aftershock swarm, keeping residents on alert. On January 20, 2026, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Joshua Tree National Park, causing noticeable trembling in the area. However, the initial shake was not the only one. Following that, the region experienced over 200 smaller aftershocks in just a couple of hours. The event turned into an intense and unusual burst of seismic activity.

New recordings show Hawaiian monk seals use many more sounds than scientists ever realized. Hawaiian monk seals (Neomonachus schauinslandi) have managed to surprise scientists by using a complex range of underwater sounds. Experts are compelled to study more deeply about them and find more effective ways to protect this endangered species. UH Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology has conducted a new study on the animal and has found new ways in which they communicate underwater.
