Abstract Two-dimensional atomic crystals (2DACs), which feature non-bonding van der Waals (vdW) gaps between crystalline atomic layers, allow selected atoms or molecules to intercalate. When confined within these vdW gaps, the intercalants can self-assemble into ordered interlayers between adjacent 2D atomic lattices, forming well-defined intercalated superlattices.

Abstract Tailoring magnetic ordering in solid-state materials is essential for emerging spintronics1,2. However, substitutional lattice doping in magnetic semiconductors is often constrained by the low solubility of magnetic elements3,4,5, limiting the maximum achievable doping concentration (for example, less than 5%) and ferromagnetic ordering temperature6.

Abstract Chiral superconductors, a unique class of unconventional superconductors in which the complex superconducting order parameter winds clockwise or anticlockwise in the momentum space1, represent a topologically non-trivial system with intrinsic time-reversal symmetry breaking (TRSB) and direct implications for topological quantum computing2,3. Intrinsic chiral superconductors are extremely rare, with only a few arguable examples, including UTe2, UPt3 and Sr2RuO4 (refs. 4,5,6,7).
