Monsoons and Tide-Induced Eddies Deflect the Dispersion of the Thermal Plume in Nan Wan Bay
1. Introduction Nan Wan Bay, situated at the southernmost tip of Taiwan, is a well-known tourist destination and a part of the Kenting National Park. The bay is bounded by two capes that extend unequally to the south, as shown in Figure 1. The west cape, locally known as Mou-Bi-Tou (MBT), does not reach as far south as the east cape, locally known as O-Luan-Bi (OLB). A seamount exists not far off the southeast point of MBT and partially obstructs the north–south passages.
