Extraction, immobilization of stationary phase, and column preparation Humic acid in sodium form was purchased from Aldrich; it was purified and converted into its protonated form (HA) before use. The extracted and purified HA was immobilized on APS by amide bond linkage between the carboxyl group of HA and –NH2 of APS to achieve EC-ImHA-APS [37, 38]. Remaining –NH2 groups on the surface of APS were acetylated for end-capping with acetyl chloride in dimethylformamide medium at room temperature.
