Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Legislative Party (BJLP) in Telangana, was today arrested by the Hyderabad police. The arrest occurred as Reddy attempted to support activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) who were protesting against the State government's decision to auction 400 acres of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) land. The BJYM activists tried to storm the Assembly premises opposing the land auction, prompting police intervention.

BJLP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy today criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his decision to undertake a Musi river beautification project at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 lakh crore. Referring to the Chief Minister's earlier statement that the State's treasury was empty when his party assumed power, he asked whether Reddy why he was then undertaking such a massive project, and if it was a way for him to fill his own personal treasury.
