Emergency medical system utilization among patients with end-stage kidney disease during the COVID-19 pandemic: a retrospective cohort study in South Korea
Abstract Introduction: Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) are particularly vulnerable to adverse outcomes from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We aimed to compare emergency department (ED) utilization patterns and clinical outcomes among patients with ESKD before and during the COVID-19 pandemic to inform future healthcare planning. Methods: We analyzed data from the National Emergency Department Information System (NEDIS), a nationwide database of ED visits in South Korea.

The Relationship between Cyber Violence and Cyber Sex Crimes: Understanding the Perception of Cyber Sex Crimes as Systemic Issues
1. Introduction In the contemporary digital landscape, cyber sex crimes against adolescents represent a growing area of concern. Cyber sex crimes are defined as actions involving the unauthorized use of cameras (including those in smartphones) to secretly record and distribute intimate images of individuals without their consent, as well as engaging in sexual harassment within online environments.
Comparison of breast fine-needle aspiration cytology and tissue sampling for high-throughput proteomic analysis and cancer biomarker detection
Background: Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) specimens are widely utilized for the diagnosis and molecular testing of various cancers. We performed a comparative proteomic analysis of three different sample types, including breast fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), core needle biopsy (CNB), and surgically resection tissues. Our goal was to evaluate the suitability of FNAC for in-depth proteomic analysis and for identifying potential therapeutic biomarkers in breast cancer.
Cutting Edge: STING Induces ACLY Activation and Metabolic Adaptations in Human Macrophages through TBK1
The 2′3′-cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) synthase (cGAS)–stimulator of IFN genes (STING) pathway can sense infection and cellular stress by detecting cytosolic DNA. Upon ligand binding, cGAS produces the cyclic dinucleotide messenger cGAMP, which triggers its receptor STING. Active STING initiates gene transcription through the transcription factors IFN regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) and NF-κB and induces autophagy, but whether STING can cause changes in the metabolism of macrophages is unknown.

Post-operative recurrence of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis according to pre-transplant treatment after kidney transplantation - BMC Nephrology
In this study, we found that prophylactic PP was associated with a lower risk of immediate post-transplant FSGS recurrence. Among the traditional risk factors for recurrence FSGS, only young age significantly increased the recurrence rate in multivariate analysis. Rituximab alone did not show a significant preventable effect in our study. Among the 21 cases of post-operative recurrence, only 3 (14.3%) cases did not respond to treatment and ultimately experienced graft failure.
