1 INTRODUCTION Aromatic compounds such as toluene, xylenes, and cyclohexanes are among the most valuable components in the chemical industry. Aromatic hydrocarbon molecules can be transformed into more valuable products (e.g., styrene, phenolic resins, poly ethylene terephthalate, polyester fiber, etc.). Moreover, certain aromatic compounds such as toluene are widely used as a solvent for various industrial processes. A variety of routes exist to create these aromatic compounds.
