Introduction Globally, the rate of randomized controlled trials (RCTs), including critical care trials, has significantly increased, reaching >500,000 clinical trials in 2025 (ClinicalTrials.gov, n.d.). However, underrepresented populations, particularly ethnic minorities, often lack equitable access to health care (). In addition, the increase in critical care trials () raises ethical concerns, particularly in intensive care unit (ICU) settings.
