Recent change in northward migration of the East Asian summer front and increased compound wet–hot conditions
Abstract The East Asian summer front (EASF) plays a key role in regional precipitation and heat stress, yet its long-term positional changes remain poorly understood. Using a front-tracking algorithm applied to ERA5 reanalysis (1979–2025), we identify northward migration of the EASF during both the active frontal season and late summer, with a more robust 1.92° shift in late summer.
Stabilizing ruthenium atom layer neighbors through molecular and metal support interactions for water electrolyzers
Abstract Designing catalysts that maximize both atomic efficiency and catalytic activity remains a central challenge in heterogeneous catalysis. While single-atom catalysts maximize noble metal utilization, their isolated structure limits the adsorption configurations of adsorbates, thereby diminishing their catalytic efficiency.
Stabilizing SrVO₃ bottom electrodes for high- k SrTiO₃ integration via La-doped STO passivation and O₃-reduced atomic layer deposition
Abstract The increasing demand for higher capacitance densities in dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) has necessitated the integration of high-k dielectric materials. SrTiO3 (STO) has emerged as a promising candidate owing to its high dielectric constant of over 100 in thin-film form. Selection of bottom electrode materials with superior lattice matching with STO is crucial to achieve a high dielectric constant for STO.

Agricultural workforce as a potential bottleneck of future cropland availability
Abstract Global cropland has historically expanded and this trend is expected to continue as global food demand is projected to grow. However, cropland abandonment is also steadily occurring, with workforce shortages recognized as one of major contributing factors. Here we demonstrate that the agricultural workforce will be a dominant constraint on cropland availability and its future changes, complementing the currently considered environmental constraints.

Combined emergent constraints on future extreme precipitation changes - Nature Communications
Abstract Recent studies have shown that the observed global warming trend over recent decades provides efficient constraints not only for future global mean temperature increases (ΔTgm) across Earth system models but also for changes in several climate variables that include significant ΔTgm–related uncertainty. However, ΔTgm–related emergent constraints (ECs) cannot reduce the uncertainty unrelated to ΔTgm.

Arctic-associated increased fluctuations of midlatitude winter temperature in the 1.5° and 2.0° warmer world - npj Climate and Atmospheric Science
Abstract In recent decades, the interior regions of Eurasia and North America have experienced several unprecedentedly cold winters despite the global surface air temperature increases. One possible explanation of these increasing extreme cold winters comes from the so-called Warm Arctic Cold Continent (WACC) pattern, reflecting the effects of the amplified Arctic warming in driving the circulation change over surrounding continents.
Infection-prevention behaviors during the COVID-19
Introduction After the World Health Organization officially announced the start of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in March 2020, most countries enacted strict universal control and social-distancing policies to stop the spread of COVID-19, leading to restraints of individual economic, social, and cultural activities.1 Since effective treatments for COVID-19 became available only recently, it was essential for each individual to engage in infection-prevention behaviors, such...

A unifying mechanism for cation effect modulating C1 and C2 productions from CO2 electroreduction - Nature Communications
Abstract Electrocatalysis, whose reaction venue locates at the catalyst–electrolyte interface, is controlled by the electron transfer across the electric double layer, envisaging a mechanistic link between the electron transfer rate and the electric double layer structure. A fine example is in the CO2 reduction reaction, of which rate shows a strong dependence on the alkali metal cation (M+) identity, but there is yet to be a unified molecular picture for that.

Observed influence of anthropogenic climate change on tropical cyclone heavy rainfall - Nature Climate Change
Abstract The impact of climate change on tropical cyclones (TCs) is of great concern in the Western North Pacific (WNP) region. Observations suggest that there have been recent changes in TC-related heavy rainfall. However, it has not yet been determined whether anthropogenic forcing has any contribution to such changes. Here, we show evidence that the human-induced warming has considerably changed the frequency of TC-induced heavy rainfall events in the WNP region.
