Average air fares in December were up 11.0% year on year, a much larger increase than the rise of just 0.3% in November, according to Consumer Prices Index data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Data has revealed that across the South West, an average of 128 people were in hospital everyday last week for flu. Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, said “there is a tidal wave of flu tearing through our hospitals” as figures showed an average of 2,660 flu patients were in hospital each day last week, up from 1,717 the previous week, across the whole of England.
