PENANG has conveyed its concerns to the police over the security conditions in localities where the Rohingya refugee community resides in the state. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow urged the police to monitor such settlements to prevent undesirable activities from mushrooming. He received assurance from newly appointed Penang Chief police Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng and his entourage, who paid a courtesy call on the state's top executive here.

TWO soldiers from Bukit Cowder Camp, Perlis, were injured while undergoing heavy weapons training at the Hobart Camp Shooting Range, at about 6.05 pm yesterday. The victims were a 29-year-old corporal who was taking part in the training and a 35-year-old sergeant who was acting as a trainer. Kedah Police Chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said the trainer suffered an injury to his right thigh and received eight stitches, but was allowed to go home after receiving treatment at the Sik Hospital.

PENANG does not only want to be known as a gastronomic haven but as a tropical fruits paradise, especially for durians. To achieve its aim, the state, with the help of the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, has allocated RM14.533 million this year to empower harvesting agro-food industries such as tropical fruits, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
