When Faith Gray joined both the wrestling and welding team at Redmond High School during her sophomore year, she said she began feeling a part of the school. “I genuinely started trying new things,” Gray said. “Freshman year I kind of just stuck to hockey and jiu-jitsu — the only things I knew.” Traveling to Bend to play hockey at the Pavilion after her dad got her into the sport, Gray was also training at a local Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym in Redmond.

Mayor Ed Fitch will run for reelection in November. It would be his fourth term as mayor of Redmond. In his state of the city address May 28, Fitch announced he will seek one more term as large-scale projects near completion and the city faces the challenge of rapid growth. “I just want to announce that because of these challenges and work I’ve been doing, I am going to run one more time for mayor, and then I’ll be terminated,” Fitch said at the end of his address.

Central Oregon is expected to cool off this weekend. After 80-degree weather Memorial Day weekend, temperatures are expected to top-out around 60 degrees Fahrenheit this weekend. As of midday Thursday, chances of rain were in the forecast for later in the day and Friday. While Central Oregon did get a few sprinklings of rain this week, it likely won’t impact local trails. Most have been dusty and blown-out for weeks.
