My Dumphone Experience
I never really got into digital technology. I’ve always used it for my needs like banking apps, GPS, and Uber but that’s about it. I’m only on social media because I have some friends who are only on Instagram so we talk through there. My average screen time is around 10-15 minutes. So making this switch didn’t change the way I use a cellphone. Although I had been using my iPhone kinda like a dumphone, actually making the switch had important effects on my daily life.
Why do we let other people affect us?
Why do we let other people affect us? Why is it that one word, a single act from someone else can change our whole world. Bring our high spirits down. We are happy and at peace one second and the complete opposite the next. It’s so much harder and takes more effort to get back into good spirits but so easy to remain in the negative. We do it as if it takes no effort.
The Future
The future - the great unknown - can be scary to think about because all of us know subconsciously that one common end awaits us all, death. This reality, outside of our control, creeps into our thoughts when we think about the future. It blots our good expectations about it by placing doubt, uncertainty, and fear for the great unknown.
Expect Less From Life
We automatically set expectations without knowing that we do. The cues we get from the environment, ambiance, people we are with, the things we are going to do in addition to a multitude of other factors sets the expectation. Let's say you are going to dinner with your friend. The second you walk into the restaurant, the expectation reaction kicks-in.
İbrahim Efe, özür diledi
Gündem 26.04.2024 - 15:12, Güncelleme: 26.04.2024 - 15:12 İbrahim Efe özür mesajında şu ifadelere yer verdi: “Değerli kamuoyuna, Doğup büyüdüğüm mahallem Tavşantepe başta olmak üzere, şehrimize hizmet etmek için çocuk denecek yaşlarda siyasetin içine girdim... Benden hiçbir zaman desteğini esirgemeyen komşularım, dostlarım, arkadaşlarım sayesinde önce mahallemde muhtar olarak bu yüce duyguyu yaşamayı Rabbim bana nasip etti.
The Light Will Set Us Free
Once I am in it, the harder it is to get out of it. And the more I try to, the deeper I fall into it. As my descent continues, I learn that over-thinking is a bottomless pit. The mind has learned to start the over-thinking process so well that all it needs is a cue. The lightest will do. And so starts the process of over-thinking. I am taken away from the ever so precious moment and put into a place of anxiety. One that gets stronger the longer I am there and holds me from coming back.
All for one and one for all!
Everywhere I look, I see the same things. The same people. The same faces. Dressed the same, consuming the same, doing the same. When looking at nature do we see just one color. For example, blue. What if all flowers, trees, grass were all the color blue. Just one color — blue. Where would the beauty be in this. Its uniqueness and what makes it special. Would it still inspire us and gives us good vibes? Maybe, if your favorite color is blue but still, I highly doubt it.
Less is More
There is this unquenchable craze for newer, better, and more experiences, clothing, food, electronics, etc… We have been made to believe that new things are better than used, worn out things. That we always need more of something. when are we supposed to stop in such a life? In a life where time plays the lead role and does not stop or slow down for anyone, are we giving ourselves time to stop, take a break, rest up, and reflect on our life. Umm, we can’t.
Less is More
They have made us believe that we cannot be happy without having an adequate sum of money. Whatever that “adequate sum” is. Now, I’m fully aware of the current world system and how one can easily starve to death without money. I’m not saying that we need to take out money from the playing field. I’m just saying that we need to take away its ‘starring’ lead role in our daily life. With that being said, I’ll move onto what I really want to focus on in this piece.
The Secrets of the Secret Garden
My, oh-my, oh-my. After having read The Wind in the Willows as an adult, I read The Secret Garden recently. And I’m so glad I did. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion and should be a must-read for all adults. This book might be a children’s book in its genre but after having read it, I can say that this book has a lot of important insights about human character that are far too complex for children to understand. One needs experience in life to really grasp some of the concepts played out in the book.
Money Equals Happiness!?
First and foremost, like our ability to love one another and other creations, create beauty, care for one another, and do good because it’s the right thing to do. Now, most of us only resemble a crumb of our original human creation. I’m going to say this outright, I hate this money-centered world. How everything is about money.
Humans Are to Blame
It might not be clear to everyone but it is to me; the world has entered a dark phase. Just like we humans have different psychological states, so does the earth and the one we are currently in is not so good-looking. Systems that we thought to be set in stone — how we travel, work, eat —are tumbling down to make way for a new system. A new way of living where the good guys are made to believe that they are the enemies whereas the bad guys act the good guy roles.
The Great Moral Decay
Little-by-little, it is being uncovered that what we are taught in school was nothing but disinformation. We were mislead and continue to be about history, the economy, wars, current events… We learned that the people who we thought we could and should trust have been lying to us for years. They have been looking at us with a straight face and just uttering flat out lies so they can carry on with their agendas.
Dinle, Ne Diyor
Eğer mutluysak o an bizi mutlu eden bir şey vardır.
The Constant Chatter in My Head
After I start listening to them, what’s right becomes wrong and what’s wrong becomes right. Now, choose if you can the right from the wrong and act according to it. It becomes difficult to see the world in its true sense when I’m in my head and tuned-in to those voices. They’re like a radio frequency playing at the lowest frequency possible only for us to hear. Since the negatives in life attract our attention more than the positives, we turn to these voices to listen to what they have to say.
Oh, These To-Do Lists
Why do some of us feel anxious about having too many items on our to-do lists. I know I used to be one of them. I still feel that sort of anxiety but not as often and certainly, not as strong. The anxious feelings are born when we see our YouTube ‘to watch later’ list, to read books or Netflix shows waiting to be watched. Maybe the problem here is the word ‘to’ that is causing us anxiety. It is making us feel that we absolutely have to do these things.
Seek Within
I read the Wind in the Willows for the first time ever as an adult recently. And, I loved it. There are so many important themes and messages the book gives to the reader of all ages. Messages that are more important in this day and age than in the past because we are losing these humane sides of us. Some I would like to focus on are: Whatever the toad does, his friends don’t give up on him. They want to help him. They care for him. They don’t abandon him. And they won’t let him cause harm to himself.

How Kurdish Politics Changed under the AK Party in Turkey
The “resolution process” (March 2013-July 2015) was a peace initiative conducted with the representatives of the PKK terrorist organization, namely Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the organization held in İmralı Prison). Many taboos that had been upheld and proliferated throughout Turkey’s Republican history were broken during this period.
Turkey’s NATO Membership: Saving the Country from NATO Itself?
Hostile NATO The Turkish government feels that powerful members of NATO turn hostile toward Turkey. Probably, if there was a clause in the NATO Treaty that enables other members to oust a member, it would be used to withdraw Turkey’s membership. Yet, since there is no way to expel Ankara, members will use all possible tools to punish the Turkish government for its independent policies; from sanctions to supporting Turkey’s adversaries, many actions aim to jeopardize Ankara’s security.

The West Seeks to Meddle in the the Most Important Election of 2023
Keeping in mind that Bolton’s threat has zero impact in Turkey, one can conclude that his real aim is to fuel doubts about election security. Meanwhile, the pieces under discussion bring up refugees, another major common theme, to problematize Turkey’s Syria policy, its relations with the European Union, and its economy. To sum up, Bolton and Ghosh complain that Ankara uses Syrian refugees to threaten and blackmail Europe.

Upside-Down Narratives: Paris Attack Targeted Muslims, Not Kurds
Muslims commonly name their children Ahmet or Mehmet, sometimes also Muhammad based on the Prophet of Islam. It is no secret that these names create a handicap in terms of finding a job in France, including in prestigious companies of world-renowned brands. Ahmet Kaya was a well-liked musician and singer in Turkey who was given an award in the field of music at the Presidential Culture and Art Grand Awards on October 28, 2013.
