Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — Among the glassy skyscrapers, luxurious stores, and well-paved roads of Bonifacio Global City in Taguig is a makeshift tent of layered tarpaulins and red-inked streamers. Former employees of the Pacific Plaza Towers — 34 of them — went on a hunger strike after 17 contracted workers were terminated without prior notice on July 6.

What was your first job as a journalist?

I tweeted and posted news articles on CNN Philippines' social media accounts. That job taught me my first lesson on speed and accuracy.

How is social media changing news?

Media organizations are not the lone entity that determines which stories to focus on. The public whom we serve somehow gets a say, too.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use an iPhone 6S and several video editing apps — KineMaster, mojo, and iMovie. I also bring a tripod and a Rode WirelessGO microphone.
