He has a bachelor's degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Puerto Rico and several continuing education courses. Among them: Medicine in the Media-NIH, Bethesda, Maryland; Medical Journalism (summer course) at New York University, New York; as well as a journalism certificate from New York University, New York.
