1 INTRODUCTION Tourism is one of the key drivers of economic growth, especially in developing countries, due to its positive economic consequences (see, for instance, Lin et al., 2019; Nunkoo et al., 2020; Pablo-Romero & Molina, 2013 and Zurub et al., 2015). From 2015 to 2019, the tourism industry contributed to more than 10% of the global GDP. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this share decreased to 5.3% in 2020, due to ongoing mobility restrictions, and then increased to 6.1% in 2021.
