The surgical strike, implementation of GST, Pulwama attack and Covid-19 were not Modi Government’s real test. The real test of their governance is in September, when more than 22 Lakh students will sit for NEET/JEE exams during this pandemic. Let this editorial not misguide you by saying that the government’s decision to hold National Eligibility cum Entrance Exams (NEET) and Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) even during this pandemic is a welcoming step.

It is our country’s misfortune that those important issues, which actually affect people at large, rarely find a place in our conversations, media debates, and parliamentary deliberations. I am not surprised by the ongoing protest by students demanding the result declaration for the SSC/Railway exam conducted in 2018. It’s not a new phenomenon. We have been witnessing these trends for the past few years now. Exams have been delayed every now and then. Selected ones don’t get timely postings.

While the NTA has postponed the NEET exam to September 13 due to the Covid-19 lockdown, NEET aspirants are said to have come under certain stress regarding the NEET 2020 exam dates, and other certain things. Lakhs of NEET aspirants are going to be giving the exam and they are stressed and worried right now. Due to this Coronavirus outbreak, there are no school or coaching centres that are open as per the guidelines put forth by the Indian Government.
