Imogen Kars’s Biography

Based on the shores of the Great Barrier Reef, Imogen is a multi-disciplinary journalist, media literacy educator and content creator. Educated at Queensland University, she graduated in 2016 with a BA in Journalism.

As a natural storyteller, she has bylines in the likes of NIT (National Indigenous Times), ABC Radio Queensland and Passion Passport.

Invested in social justice, sustainable travel and people power, Imogen aims to use journalism to forge a better future for all. She believes in the democratisation of journalism and the global implementation of media literacy education.

Aiming to dissect the intersections of media and justice, she creates content for a community of over 3000 on her platform Earth Correspondent.

After graduating from QUT, Imogen spent over three years travelling slowly and living in Egypt, Morocco, Turkey and other off-the-beaten-path destinations. These experiences deepened her understanding of international issues and politics, and sharpened her skills in cultural competence. Most of all, she developed an unwavering passion for using her privileges to empower others.

Imogen is available for commission and specialises in long-form articles and thought-provoking, explainer content. She is also available to create educational material on the media, social media and the digital world.
