Idiosyncratic pupil regulation in autistic children
Abstract Recent neuroimaging and eye tracking studies have suggested that children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may exhibit more variable and idiosyncratic brain responses and eye movements than typically developing (TD) children. Here we extended this research for the first time to pupillometry recordings. We successfully completed pupillometry recordings with 103 children (66 with ASD), 4.5-years-old on average, who viewed three 90 second movies, twice.
Oculomotor randomness is higher in autistic children and increases with the severity of symptoms
INTRODUCTION Eye movements provide a rich source of information on sensory, perceptual, cognitive, and motor brain processes that govern a variety of voluntary and involuntary behaviors. As such, they have been studied extensively in people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Early eye-tracking studies of ASD focused on gaze patterns related to social interaction (Klin et al., 2003), motivated by the clinical observations of reduced eye contact and joint attention in ASD (Senju & Johnson, 2009).
The kinematics of 3D arm movements in sub-acute stroke: impaired inter-joint coordination caused by both weakness and flexor synergy intrusion
Abstract It has long been of interest to characterize the components that generate the motor control abnormalities in the arm after stroke. One approach has been to decompose the hemiparesis phenotype into negative signs, such as weakness, and positive signs, such as intrusion of synergies.
