AbstractNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) often coexists with type 2 diabetes (T2D), and its prevalence in patients with T2D is estimated to be approximately 50%–60% in Japan.1 In some patients with T2D, NAFLD can progress to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis?(NASH) and further to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).2 Moreover, NAFLD is considered an independent risk factor for cardiovascular events.3
